I cannot remember how long I have been wanting to have this procedure done. I have been self conscious of my large labia for so long and it has always really affected my confidence. I have been to see some other consultants over the years but a friend of mine recommended The Surrey Park Clinic and I was so happy from the minute I walked in. After my initial consultation I was advised to think about the procedure and came back for this to be done under local anaesthetic a few weeks later.

All in all the procedure took an hour and I did not feel a thing. I watched the television in theatre and chatted to the nurses, it seemed to be over in minutes. When I got home I applied the numbing cream again and was advised to go to bed for the remainder of the day and the next day. The clinic and I stayed in touch but I was really well with no noticeable pain or bleeding. I finished my antibiotics and anti-bleeding medication 3 days after the procedure.

I have just been back for my 6 week check and I cannot describe how thrilled I am. I wish I had had this done years ago but I did not want an anaesthetic and other places did not seem right.

I realised that my labia were enlarged shortly after puberty and I was really anxious about anybody seeing, even my mother. As I got into my late teens I worried about it more and more and it stopped me even thinking about a relationship. I did research the possibility of having an operation but all of those seemed to be under a general anaesthetic and I could not face the thought of that.

I found The Surrey Park Clinic and went for an appointment and immediately felt more confident and happy that I would be involved with what was being done and that would be made easier because they could do it under a local anaesthetic. Miss Whitcroft was kindness itself and the nurses were lovely. As I had been so worried about the procedure Miss Whitcroft showed me the result right at the end and I was so thrilled that I cried uncontrollably! I could not believe that it was all so easy and with no pain at all.

I feel that this is the beginning of my new life and every morning I wake up and remember that I no longer have any droopy bits and I feel really happy.
